Growing Up Outside of the Norm
Your mind works differently, which can make high school or college a lot more difficult. Whether you have AuDHD, ADHD, or another kind learning disability, you may often feel pressured by teachers, peers, and even well-meaning family members to “fix” behaviors that they don’t quite understand.

It's difficult to navigate a world that just doesn't "get you". But pressuring yourself to fit into a one-size-fits-all box, isn't necessary. Your neurodivergent brain isn't something to be ashamed about.
I help students work with their nervous system, instead of against it, so that they can finally move through life with less anxiety and emotional waves.

What you may be struggling with...
-
Social anxiety
-
Perfectionism
-
Procrastination
-
Identifying emotions
-
Emotional waves
-
Being present
-
Body awareness
-
Challenges in school
-
Challenges in learning
-
Challenges with peers
-
Difficulty concentrating
Academic & Executive Function Support

We build systems that match how your brain actually works.
This can include:
-
support with IEPs and school accommodations
-
creating realistic routines and structures
-
body doubling and accountability support
-
helping you follow through without burnout

Evidence-Based Therapuetic Approaches
Many students with neurodivergence have internalized beliefs like:
-
“I’m not smart enough”
-
“I’ll never get this right”
-
“I don’t belong here”
I use EMDR to help us gently process where those beliefs came from—so you’re not carrying them into every new experience.

Creative Arts & Expression
We use art, games, music, and activity to help you find safety not only within your sensations but also with your environment.
This creates a safe space to laugh, cry, and explore emotions often deemed "too much".

Parent & Support System Collaboration
You don’t have to navigate this alone. I work closely with parents and your support systems to:
-
help them understand how your brain works
-
create environments that actually support you
-
reduce misunderstandings and frustration on both sides
Neurodivergent Students Can Thrive in School
You see the world differently & that's a strength
Growing up with a learning disability myself, I understand how difficult school and peer relationships can be for neurodivergent students. What shifted everything for me wasn’t forcing myself to “try harder.”
It was learning this framework:
-
how my brain actually worked
-
how to communicate what I needed
-
how to build better systems to support my nervous system
Now in my therapy practice, I am passionate about helping my neurodivergent clients through this same process. Here are a few ways I support students:

About Creative Path Counseling
A Body-Based Approach to Mental Health
Hi, I’m Jillian! I blend therapy, somatic nervous system support, and practical life guidance so we’re not just talking about challenges—we’re building sustainable ways to move through them.
Many neurodivergent teens and young adults have spent years feeling misunderstood, overwhelmed, burned out, or pressured to fit into systems that weren’t built for them. Together, we focus on creating support strategies that honor your brain, nervous system, interests, and natural way of functioning—not forcing you into constant productivity or masking.
Support may include:
-
Processing rejection sensitivity, shame, or past school/work experiences
-
Guidance through major life transitions and uncertainty about the future
-
Building ADHD-friendly organization & executive functioning supports
-
Self-advocacy and accommodation support for school or work settings
-
Career exploration and identifying aligned paths after graduation
-
Navigating school stress, college transitions, or academic burnout
-
Support with regulation, routine, and sustainable life skills
-
Strengthening communication skills and relationships
-
Exploring identity, confidence, and unmasking

Phase 1: Reclaim Awareness
-
Identify sensory stressors that drain focus and energy
-
Recognize masking and people-pleasing as protective responses
-
Reframe procrastination, shutdown, or avoidance as nervous system overwhelm
-
Understand patterns of burnout, rejection sensitivity, and chronic stress
-
Replace “What’s wrong with me?” with “What do I need?”
-
Build self-awareness with compassion instead of shame
Therapeutic Framework to Support Neurodiversity
Many neurodivergent students aren’t struggling because something is wrong with them—they’re often navigating systems that weren’t built for how their brain works. This support framework helps students move from overwhelm and self-criticism into self-understanding, regulation, and sustainable success.
